Invest in Girls Program Empowers Young Women in Finance at the University of Arizona

Students from Valley Vista High School from Dysart School District visited the University of Arizona for a unique financial literacy experience, organized by the Arizona Council on Economic Education. Through the Invest in Girls program, the event connected young women with finance professors to help close the gender pay gap and inspire careers in finance. Mary Rigdon, director of the University of Arizona, Center for the Philosophy of Freedom, highlighted the importance of increasing female representation in the financial sector, where women still earn less than men and hold only 15% of executive roles. Participants toured campus, engaged with female finance professionals, and gained insights to help them pursue their ambitions. The Invest in Girls initiative will expand to a new school next year, continuing its mission to support young women in finance.
