Using the Economic Way of Thinking and stories of rescue and resilience during the Holocaust, this session will help educators to connect and integrate economic principles to the heroic choices of the few that were willing to help. Interactive virtual and in-person activities and resources from multiple perspectives will be highlighted for educator use. All lessons are aligned with the AZ History and Social Science Standards and the AZ State Board of Education’s rules on Holocaust and genocide education.
Special Guest Speaker: Laura Soldinger Yotter, author of Death and Diamonds: The Story of Samuel Soldinger, A Legacy of Oskar Schindler
Attendees are encouraged to bring a laptop computer with Wi-Fi capabilities in order to fully participate in the workshop.
Lunch will be provided.
Travel stipends are available. ($20 – Maricopa County, $40 – All other AZ counties)
Participants will be eligible for 3.5 hours of professional development credit.
