Teacher Spotlight – Philip Adiyia

ACEE values the culture, traditions, and history of our supporters. Join us in celebrating Black History Month!

Q: How did your family and culture influence who you are today?

My childhood experience with financial hardship such as growing up in a low income household, witnessing job loss and seeing family members struggle with debt has always fueled my desire to understand and master financial literacy. My passion for economic and personal finances was a way to break cycles of financial instability and create generational wealth.

Q: Why is ACEE important to you?

My participation in Arizona Council on Economic Education programs has had a significant impact on me both personally and professionally. It has allowed me to incorporate real-world financial concepts into my math lessons, making learning more relevant for students. It feels great to see my students using practical life skills such as budgeting, savings, and understanding supply and demand.

Q: Why do you care about financial and economic education?

ACEE programs and lessons have been pivotal in my classroom instruction. It has helped me to empower my students with essential life skills and create engaging, relevant lessons that help students see the value of financial literacy in their daily lives.
