Debbie Henney is an economics professor and director of the Center for Economic Education at Mesa Community College in Mesa, Arizona. An economic educator for 21 years, she spent the first 10 years of her career teaching economics in the high school classroom. Her work with teachers began in 2006 as a Master Teacher for the Arizona Council on Economic Education. In 2007 she began training teachers around the country as a Mentor Teacher with the Foundation for Teaching Economics, and in 2013 began training teachers internationally with various organizations like the Fraser Institute. Debbie has since had opportunities to serve as Curriculum Director for the Foundation for Teaching Economics, Executive Director of the Arizona Council on Economic Education, and President of the Arizona Council for the Social Studies. Debbie loves teaching economics! Outside of the community college classroom, she feeds her passion for economic literacy by writing lessons and curriculum units for the economics classroom and presenting programs, workshops and in-service trainings for schools, teachers and students around the world.
