What Students Are Saying About Financial Fitness in Action
Financial Fitness in Action™ partners schools and the Arizona Council on Economic Education, putting personal finance knowledge into action at the 7th – 12th grade level.
- Students participate in a fun, interactive, life after high school simulation of saving, spending, and budgeting based on career choices and lifestyle decisions.
- Based on the career, salary, and credit score assigned, students make decisions that affect their finances, such as renting an apartment on their own or having a roommate, buying or leasing a vehicle, purchasing phones and/or cable, and saving for their retirement.
- In-Person Financial Fitness in Action™ is designed to be held for 100 – 150 students over approximately a 2-hour period.
- Virtual Financial Fitness in Action™ can be held via an online video conference for up to 40 students over approximately a 1.5-hour period.
What happens during Financial Fitness in Action™?
- Community volunteers, private industry leaders, and teachers work with students during the event at individual decision-making stations, advising them on life choices such as housing, transportation, food, and health care choices.
- Students will be faced with surprise, real-life situations such as traffic tickets, insurance deductions, and car repairs that will impact their finances. Finally, financial health counselors review each student’s final budget one-on-one to ensure solvency or to help students learn how to live within their means.
Why host Financial Fitness in Action™?
Managing their own budgets and seeing the actual cost of living provides students with a new perspective on real-life financial management and prepares them for a future of independence and financial responsibility. This program is offered for free to schools.
