Q: How did your family and culture influence who you are today?
My family and culture have been instrumental in shaping my identity. From a young age, my parents instilled in me a deep appreciation for my Salvadoran heritage, encouraging me to embrace both its rich traditions and its contemporary relevance. A valuable lesson I learned from my parents is the importance of humility. They taught me that true greatness often begins with small steps and that a humble approach can open doors to greater opportunities. This philosophy has guided me to remain grounded and dedicated to giving back to my community.
Q: Why is ACEE important to you?
ACEE is a valuable resource for my students as it provides them with opportunities to engage in lessons that have direct relevance to their everyday lives. ACEE’s curriculum and events have been particularly effective in helping my students develop financial literacy. I believe that educating children about economic concepts and providing them with practical skills is essential for their future success.
Q: Why do you care about financial and economic education?
I am passionate about financial and economic education because I believe that a strong foundation in these areas can significantly impact individuals’ lives. Financial literacy empowers people to achieve their goals, whether it be saving for education or retirement, managing debt responsibly, or even starting a business. By exposing students to economic concepts, we are equipping them with the knowledge and skills they need to navigate the complexities of the global economy. Unlike previous generations who may have had to learn about finance as adults, today’s students have the opportunity to develop a solid understanding of economic systems alongside their teachers.
